Our Mission Statement
To create a school where children love to attend and parents and teachers never want to leave.
Schools should be considered a "national treasure" because we grow children! A seasoned staff with private school experience is here to partner with families and help children reach their fullest potential. TLC is a warm, closely knit school, rather like a "rated G" version of the t.v. show "Cheers" (where everybody knows your name.) We want the kids to feel comfortable here, like a home away from home. In our nurturing environment, TLC plants the seeds of academic and social/emotional readiness so that children toddling through our doors can eventually confidentally stride out with knowledge, friendship, problem solving skills, creativity, and a little piece of us (TLC!) that will enrich the rest of their (and our) lives. Notice the branches on our tree logo stretch back down to the roots? Visit us in person to see all that makes our school amazing!

Our school
Our program is designed to be a fun, enriching experience suited to the appropriate developmental needs of young children.
We want our school to be an extension of the home (more like Grandma's house!) and craft environments to feed imaginations. The curriculum itself adopts a “hands-on” approach to learning. How can educators not?!
Sensitive to the level of each child’s development and family dynamics, our learning methods foster creativity, respect for others, a positive self-image, and a love of learning. Working in a partnership with families, students grow in a nurturing environment that provides a solid foundation during these precious, critical early years.
We teach traditional subjects like language arts, math, science, social studies, art, and music. However, we also teach problem solving skills, good manners, options toddlers can use to handle anger or excitement, how to be a kind friend, independence, creativity, and conflict resolution. In other words, some schools expect preschoolers to be able to complete a worksheet or give flashcard answers. TLC marinates children in life-long skills that grow their brains and souls, because we know that rarely does real life (a.k.a. jobs, love interests, existential questions, etc) give you cut-and-dried answers. Usually, life gives us more questions, and we want our kids, our future, to THINK. Sir Ken Robinson says it best in this educational video.
The Legacy Centre Preschool offers...
Clean and Secure Facilities
Our first priority is your child's health and safety. Our doors are passcode locked. ALL of our staff is trained in CPR-First Aid (far beyond GA state's 50% staff training requirement.) We maintain clean, child-centered classrooms free from illness and harm. We wipe down tables, chairs, doorknobs, bathrooms, etc. with Clorox everyday. Playground equipment is regularly inspected and we hold monthly, reassuring fire/tornado drills where the kids are rewarded for keeping "cool" with fruit popsicles. Each class boasts a regularly stocked and inspected First Aid kit, which also contains children's pertinent food-allergy information. Toys are sanitized weekly in the Pre-K classes and daily in the younger rooms. Every faucet has a water filter, and we serve organic foods during meals. For more info, click our "Go Green" tab.
Daily Fun and Growth
The children can't wait to come back for another day of learning and play! Usually parents' biggest challenge
is getting their child to leave at the end of the day! Socialization and self-help skills are taught and reinforced, not simply expected!
A consistent but fun routine provides reassuring predictability, not boredom. Our teachers rotate toys in the classroom for monthly thematic units. This helps kids master a toy/concept/manipulative, and the new challenge provides excitement and a learning curve that minimizes behavioral challenges. Our kids are not playing with the same toys all year which were put on the shelf in 1492. (A funny aside: The licensing worker who inspected our facility said we have enough toys for two schools!)
Acceptable forms of behavior are encouraged using positive behavior guidance techniques and redirection.
We promote well-rounded development using hands-on learning, including plenty of play in the great outdoors. TLC is still on speaking terms with Mother Nature.

Superior Communication
To enhance communication between school and home,
Daily feedback (verbal or written) is provided between the teacher and parent at drop-off or pick-up time.
Weekly lesson plans and monthly menus are e-mailed to families. Less paper helps planet Earth!
Weekly newsletters are e-mailed, often including pictures of the children involved in classroom activities, as well as suggestions for activities parents can work on at home to compliment at-school lessons.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are held twice a year, but we love to talk about "our" kids anytime!

Multicultural and Community Experiences
Our students AND staff hail from countries around the globe. Our toys and and curriculum do, too, with lesson plans covering various regions and climes throughout the year. Parents are encouraged to share their home culture with our classrooms, particularly during festivals and celebrations. We love to explore our world!
We also love our location! It is conducive to many walking fieldtrips, a big help to the working parents who want their children to "go and do", but can't take off work to chaperone. We regularly incorporate walking fieldtrips to
Heritage Park (for hiking or
community activities like
music, karate, yoga), and visits to our neighbors including the
vet,
grocery store, and
Pak-Mail. We're also convenient to family friendly events in our community, like a
Farmer's Market, the Sandy Springs
Festival, and relaxing
Concerts by the Springs. We encourage any other fieldtrips (petting zoos, librarians, firetrucks, etc.) to come to us!
We respond to children's needs as capable learners with rich learning environments and positive, quality interactions. Our instructors bring years of experience to encourage the best in their students, who consistently place well in area public and private school systems. Though our students do rate highly in "placements" and "scores", our primary focus is to raise wonderful children who reach their full potential. TLC's job is to help families build a strong foundation for children to use as a springboard into their adult future.
